Kamloops Dancers
~Dance Scottish~

Welcome...

Scottish Country Dancing is the social dancing of Scotland.  Dancers dance in “sets”  of 6, 8, or 10 dancers, these being the more common set sizes. Energizing music drives stirring Reels providing contrast to the haunting melodies of the Strathspey.  Dance Scottish!  Have fun and make new friends!

Each evening begins with the focus on less experienced dancers and after a short social break, the focus shifts to the more experienced dancers.  This distinction becomes less important as the season progresses.  For more information on dance specifics, see “Our Programme.”

Come Join Us:

We meet every Tuesday from 7:30 pm  to 9:30 p.m., mid-September to early May, in Stuart Wood Elementary School Gymnasium, 3rd Ave. & Battle St., in downtown Kamloops.  We sponsor a special SCD event every two years in October. In October 2011 we are sponsoring a Tea Dance for Scottish Country Dancers from Kamloops and towns throughout the region. For further details see our "coming events" page

Our Home Town:

Kamloops is a city of  85,000 in British Columbia, Canada.  Scottish Country Dancers have danced here since the 1920s.  In 1986 the Kamloops Scottish Country Dance Club was formed.  We are affiliated with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Edinburgh, Scotland, the guiding body for Scottish Country Dancing throughout the world.  Scottish Country Dancing is found on all continents, and in many countries and cultures throughout the world.  Knowing the “basics” is your passport to what can be an international dance experience.
